2005 Davis Turkey Trot Participant Confirmation Email Sent Wednesday, November 16, 2006
Dear Participant,
We wish to thank you for your early registration into this Saturday’s 18th annual Davis Turkey Trot. Aside from a perfect weather forecast for Saturday, we are expecting one of our largest fields ever. We look forward to including you in the event.
The following information will provide you with answers to your last minute questions. Please visit our website, www.changeofpace.com, for complete race information. On our website we have also posted a participant list with your first and last name, event entered, whether you upgraded to a long sleeve t-shirt, and the Yolo County K-12 school you have indicated you would like your entry to benefit. Any corrections can be handled either at packet pick up or on race morning.
Packet Pick Up Your race packet will consist of your bib number, race t-shirt and goody bag. Your bib number should be worn on race day on the front of your body. Safety pins will be available at registration. You can pick up your packet at any one of the three following times:
Thursday, Nov. 17th - 2:00 to 5:30 pm at Fleet Feet in Downtown Davis Friday, Nov. 18th - 11am to 4pm at Fleet Feet in Downtown Davis Saturday, Nov. 19th (Race Day!)- at Civic Center Field (Start/Finish area) starting at 6:30 am (8:00 am for Kid's run).
Packet Pick up on Thursday and Friday will be set up directly across the street from Fleet Feet Sports in Davis, in front of the Varsity Theatre (616 2nd Street). After you get your race packet, be sure to stop in and see the friendly staff at Fleet Feet Sports. They offer the latest in running and walking apparel and also have huge participant discounts & sales for Turkey Trot participants. (Check your race bag for coupons).
When to Arrive on Race Day As in the case with any large event, it is very important to provide yourself ample time to find parking and take care of any last minute registration needs. We suggest arriving at the site at least one hour before your start time; earlier if you need to pick up your packet. No need to create unnecessary stress before the run/walk.
Race Start Times All races will start on-time. Start times are as follows: 8:00 am - 5K Baby Jogger Run/Walk 8:20 am - 5K Run or Walk 9:00 am - 10K Run/Walk 10:30 am - Kid's Fun Runs (multiple heats by age and distance, starting with the 1/2 mile and finishing with the 1/4 mile)
Directions and Parking Historically, the Davis Exit (a.k.a. Richards Blvd) off Interstate 80 tends to back up on the morning of the Davis Turkey Trot. On our website, we have provided two simple and alternate routes into the city should you wish to avoid sitting in a potential gridlock. These options should make driving to the race easier come race morning. Also posted on our website is a map of the downtown area which highlights several parking lots located within walking distance of the event. Vintage T-Shirt Blow-Out Sale Many folks say we save the best for last. Given the Turkey Trot is our last event of the year, we tend to do our spring cleaning in the winter. With over 15,000 "vintage" race t-shirts in storage, there comes a time we must part with all of them. A majority of all t-shirts will be sold for a $1.00 and sweatshirts for as low as $3.00. All items will be on a first come, first serve basis and the booth will located adjacent to the stage. The booth will be open to the public at 8:00 a.m. Only cash and check will be accepted. We will also have 2005 Davis Turkey Trot merchandise for sale.
The Food Bank of Yolo County Before leaving your home on Saturday morning, please have a look in your pantry or cupboard for a few spare canned food items that you are willing to donate to the Food Bank of Yolo County. They are one of the Official Race Beneficiaries of the 2005 Davis Turkey Trot and will be on-site Saturday to collect any canned food and/or monetary donations. If every participant brings just one can of food, the Food Bank will walk away with over 4,000 cans of food - which will be a huge boost to their program. At this time of year, they need community support more than ever. The Food Bank booth will be located near the registration area on the grass.
Hey Kids! Come to the event ready to have FUN! Our much-anticipated Interactive Play Area is just about ready! This year's Kid's Area will include a 40 foot giant inflatable slide, a balloon artist, a variety of art projects, interactive games and raffles. Parents, please note: On event day, all Pre and Late Registration for the Kid's Runs will take place near the Kid's Play Area entrance. Kids registration will open at 8:00 a.m.
5K & 10K Award Winners Should you post an award-winning time on event day, we would like to congratulate you in advance. We would also like to advise you of how to claim your prize. This year's awards include a variety of unique items and will be awarded to the top three finishers in each age division in the 5K Run/Walk and the 10K Run. Prizes will also be given for the top three overall male and female finishers in the 5K Baby Jogger Run. An awards tent will be set up on race day adjacent to the Volunteer Check In tent - this is where all awards will be available for pick up starting at 9:30 a.m. The official awards ceremony will be held following the kid's fun runs at approximately 11:15 a.m. If you do not pick up your award on race day, you may pick it up at Fleet Feet Sports in Davis starting Sunday, November 20th during regular business hours. They will be available there until December 31st. Awards will not be mailed.
Official Event Photographers As you run or walk your way along the course on Saturday morning, you may notice several event photographers from brightroom.com clad in blue vests. Brightroom staff will be along the course and at the finish line during the event. Next week you will be able to log on to their website, www.brightroom.com, to view and/or purchase your picture(s). Be sure to wear your bib number in a visible place on the front of your body so that you can be identified in your photographs.
Final Course Note Please note that the following items are not permitted at any time on the race course: skateboards, roller blades, tricycles or bikes. Also, baby joggers and strollers are permitted in the 8:00 am 5K Baby Jogger race only. No baby joggers or strollers will be allowed in the 8:20 am 5K Run/walk or the 10K Run at 9:00 am.
