2005: Half Marathon: Reno’s Darrin Rohr captures the men’s title in the half marathon with a 1:13:53 finish.Dennis Primzich is the top Davis finisher with a time of 1:17:52. In the Women’s race, Megan Canova, from Sacramento, wins in 1:25:29 and 17th overall. The top finishers from Davis included Kristine Shedd (1:27:18), Caren Spose (1:29:55) and Lisa Wade (1:34:40). . 10K: 19 year old Cheyne Inman, from Vacaville, wins the men’s 10K in 32:44, setting the new record for the 10K at the Davis Stampede by 2 seconds. Thad Sieracki, 18, is the top Davis finisher (35:17), followed by Ben Fitzpatrick (36:58). Alexandra Bigelow won the women’s race in 39:31 edging out Lynn Keane of Gold River by 8 seconds. The top Davis finisher was Sarah Brainard (41:51). 5K: 15:46 was the winning time in the 5K this year, set by Jeff Bruins of Sacramento. Lars Schmitz was the top Davis finisher (17:12). The women’s race saw Emmy Barr win in 17:59, followed closely by Stephanie Bruins, who finished thirty seconds later at 18:34. The top Davis finishers included Nita Thoreson (20:43) and Malene Jensen (21:09).
2004: Half Marathon: Matthew Laye, 22, of Davis finishes in the second fastest time at the Davis Stampede in years. Second only to Scott Kennedy’s finish in 1999, Laye won in 1:09:57. Scott Young of Reno finished second in 1:14:49. Top male finishers from Davis also included Paul Cox, 40, (1:23:10) and Steve Young, 31, (1:23:31). In the Women’s race, local standout Jen Pfiefer of Folsom captured the win in 1:23:26. Kristi Arthur of Reno finished second in 1:24:02. Top female finishers from Davis included Esther Prins (1:35:00) and Angie Hart (1:35:45). 10K: Matthew Wise, 24, of Berkeley finished first in 33:14. Behind him were Cheyne Inman of Vacaville (33:35) and Ryan Nickel (34:11) from Sacramento. Tanya Fredericks held on to her title as she won the 10K again, this time in 38:41. Fredericks was followed by Nancy Rashid of Davis (40:27) and Rocklin’s Lori Wray (40:41). Top Davis standouts in the men’s race included Ryan Gold (34:54) and Justin Lakin (37:32). Cindi Parente (42:58) and Leah Lundy (44:29) were top Davis finishers in the women’s 10K. 5K: Records were broken in the 5K this year, with both the top male and female setting course records. For the men, Kyle Watson of Stockton set the new record in 15:05. Paul Wellman (15:49) and Erich Ackermann (15:51) finished second and third. Davis saw it’s own Larry Schwartz (16:19) and Orlando Velazquez (16:21) finish 4th and 5th overall, respectively. In the women’s 5K, it took Santa Rosa’s Nika Bowen just 16:48 to reach the finish line for her win; second and third went to Kimberly Cloud (Turlock, 17:58) and Pam Runquist (Davis, 18:06), respectively. Viechi Rodriguez (19:04) finished 6th overall and was the second fastest Davis female finisher.
2003: Half Marathon: Paul Wellman, 24, of Davis won in 1:11:46. The women’s race was won by Magdalena Lewy, 29, of Oakland, in 1:17:34 who was also 6th overall. The top female finisher in the Half Marathon from Davis was Krista Callinan, 22, in 1:30:09. 10K: DJ Chapman, 21, of Pleasanton won the 10K in 34:34. Tanya Fredricks, 36 , of San Anselmo, won the Women’s 10K in 39:13. Top Davis finishers were Paul Cox (39 yrs, 35:50) and Cindi Parenti (45, 44:55). 5K: Jeff Bruins, 28, of Lincoln won in 16:04. Sara Freitas, 44, of Nevada City, won the women’s race in 18:20. Top Davis finishers in the 5K were Pam Runquist, 39, who finished in 19:21, and Michael Wells, 18, who finished in 16:51.
2002: Half Marathon: Edward Burns, 33, of Granite Bay, won the Men’s Half Marathon in 1:11:47. The women’s race was won by Kristen Orr, 28, of Pismo Beach, in 1:25:16. Top Davis Finishers in the Men’s Half Marathon were Chad Green (1:19:01) and James Allen (1:21:18). In the Women’s Half Marathon, top Davis finishers were Nancy Rashid (1:30:13) and Jennifer Miramontes (1:31:52). 10K: Nearly setting a course record, John Dorsch of Vallejo won the 10K race in 32:54. The Women’s 10K winner was youth standout Caitlin Chock, 16, of Roseville, who finished in 37:50. Top Davis finishers in the Men’s 10K were Ron Richardson (36:00), Dennis Prizmich (36:58), Chris Fuller (37:31). Danielle Widenmann (43:50), Linda Casillas (45:21) and Heather Messenger (46:44) were top Davis finisher’s in the women’s race. 5K: Chad Worthen and Jeff Bruins tie for the win in the 5K with a time of 16:51. Sarah West, 17, of Davis, wins the women’s 5K in 18:45. Top Davis finishers include Bryan Thoreson (17:27) and then 10-year old Helen Seldin, who finished in 20:00.
2001: Half Marathon: Chris Knorzer of Antelope wins in 1:11:01 and sets a course record. Oakland’s Katy Hollbacher wins the Women’s race in 1:24:39. Davis standouts include Gregg Moring (1:15:55), Joe Welton (1:16:45), Beth Young (1:26:43) and Debby Tipton (1:34:08). 10K: Top triathlete Scott Young of Reno defends his title in 34:14, and was closely followed by Mauricio Maia who finished just seconds later in 34:21. The women’s race also saw a close finish. Kristi Arthur won with a time of 38:27; Amy Grafius was right behind her, finishing in 38:35. Top Davis finishers were Doug Reed (37:21) and Lindsey Maclise (42:36). 5K: Frank Thomas hangs onto his title with a repeat win in the 5K with a finish time of 15:52. Behind him, Daniel Rodriguez finishes second in 16:18. Also from Roseville, Caitlin Chock (15 years old at the time) finishes first in 17:43. It was a day for young runners, as Jessie Baldwin, 15 finishes second in 18:50, and Davis’ Sarah West finished third in 19:23.
2000: Half Marathon: Rich Hanna of Sacramento wins the Men’s Half Marathon in 1:12:53. Angela Isbill wins the Women’s Half Marathon, with a fast finish of 1:19:43.. Top Davis finishers include Gustavo Hernandez (1:16:59), Bryan Thoreson (1:18:00), Jill Cartwright (1:34:23) and Diana Hassel (1:36:16). 10K: Scott Young of Reno wins the men’s race in 33:01. Diana Harlick of Davis wins the Women’s 10K in 38:27. Other top Davis finishers include Tim Naylor (34:24) and Madison Macht (38:54). 5K: Roseville’s Frank Thomas finishes in a fast 16:19, just in front of Mauricio Maia (16:32). The women’s race was won by Amy Grafius of Modesto (18:21). Second and Third Place in the women’s 5K went to Elinor Klang of Folsom (18:57) and DeeDee Grafius of Modesto (18:58). Local top finishers included Dennis Prizmich (16:52) and Joann Helmus (20:31).
1999: Rain and Wind can’t stop the Stampede of Runners! In the Half Marathon, nationally ranked Scott Kennedy wins in 1:07:57. Sacramento’s Chad Worthen finishes second in a respectable 1:15:13. Jen Devine wins the women’s Half Marathon in 1:25:18. Bryan Thoreson (1:18:21), Dennis Prizmich (1:22:49), Deborah Tipton (1:32:18) and Shelley Wright (1:39:55) are the top Davis finishers. 10K: Todd Trask of Santa Rosa wins in 32:46 and sets the course record for the 10K. The women’s 10K is won by Katy Spink of Stanford, who finished in 35:10. Top Davis finishers include Bret Kimple (33:00), Tim Naylor (34:09), Laura Keels (45:59) and G. Rosenlicht (47:08). 5K: Martin Kinsey of Livermore finishes in 16:28, edging out Jon Klinkman of Novato, who finished second in 16:39. Karin Kuffel of Oakland secures the win for the women’s race with a time of 19:17. Davis’ fastest included Mark Helmus (18:51), John Andall (19:05), 14-year old Sarah West (21:44) and Dena Keppen (22:27).
