2003 Davis Turkey Trot Hosts Record Participation
DAVIS, CA – The Davis Turkey Trot is an annual tradition for many each November. This year, 4,100 runners and walkers took part in the festivities, making it the fourth largest running and walking event in the greater Sacramento area. Of that, approximately 600 kids ages 1-12 participated in the Turkey Tot Kids’ Runs, which is the largest Kids’-only running event in Northern California.
The Davis Turkey Trot debuted in 1987 and at that time was listed as the largest inaugural running event in the country. Since then, the Davis Turkey Trot has grown with the Davis community, Kids’ 1/4 and 1/2 mile fun runs, and in 2001, a 5K Baby Jogger Run/Walk. What began as a prize pursed, competitive 5K has evolved into a family-oriented event with something for the competitive runner, casual jogger, walker, family member, neighbor and children.
