	*A Change of Pace News Update* September 7, 2004 In This Issue: - Chevys Fresh Mex Run - Mather Field Mud Run - You've got to see it to believe it! - Davis Turkey Trot CHEVYS FRESH MEX RUN - September 18th There's less than three weeks left before the start of the 12th Annual Chevys Fresh Mex Run and the 2004 event will be fresher than ever. Not only have we taken the run in a new direction (literally), we have made the start as big of a fiesta as the finish. This year, we have changed both 5K and 12K starting lines to Discovery Park. This will mean one central location for registration, ample parking for all participants, no post-race shuttles back to your cars, and plenty of room to warm up prior to race start. In addition, both the 5K and 12K courses are now USATF certified, so any of you planning age group records are in luck.The finish line will remain in front of the Chevys restaurant on Garden Highway, which will also be the location of our huge post-race fiesta. No fiesta is complete without a FREE Fresh Mex lunch compliments of Chevys! This, of course, is available to all registered participants. The event is by far the most unique run/walk in the region. We encourage you to bring a friend or two, because the food, drinks, live entertainment and festive atmosphere along the Riverbank Marina will more than any one person can handle. Pre-Registration for this event is strongly encouraged. This will save you oodles of time on race day plus it will guarantee you a t-shirt on event day. T-shirts and race bags will be handed out in the finish area. While we always welcome race day entries at this event, if you are planning on participating, we suggest you pre-register and save the extra $3. Pre-registration is just $27 through the 17th ($17 for the Kid's 1/4 Mile Run). A downloadable entry form is posted as well as links to online registration. MATHER FIELD MUD RUN Remember when you got yelled at for coming home with a bit of dirt on your clothes? Well those times are over as the concept of the Mather Field Mud Run yields the complete opposite message. In fact, you might get yelled at for not getting dirty enough. The Mather Field Mud Run is a fun, challenging and - yes - muddy event happening at the Mather Sports Complex on September 25th. Participants can choose from either the 2 mile or 5 mile obstacle courses that provide you with a sample of Marine boot camp. The Mather Field Mud Run may not have all the bells, but it definitely has plenty of whistles and a drill sergeant to boot. The Mather Sports Complex is located in Sacramento County off Hwy. 50 in Rancho Cordova. There is also a special 1/2 mile kid's event for those 12 & Under. Obstacles include crawling through tunnels, jumping over hay bales and walls, a sand pit, running through tires, and the infamous mud pit. If you haven't given this race a try yet, grab a friend and you're sure to have a great time. Compete either as an individual, on a team, or as a relay. The event has staggered starts to minimize congestion on the course. Pre-registration is just $30 ($25 for kids) and includes a race t-shirt, dog tag, eligibility to win the Golden Boot age group awards, and a post-race All American lunch. Bring the entire family as the expo will keep you entertained all morning, from military vehicles on display, to a small air show and parachutes, and sports/fitness booths. Post-race showers and hoses will be available so you don't have to get back in your car all muddy. DAVIS TURKEY TROT- Saturday, November 20th The Davis Turkey Trot provides 17 years of tradition that unequal any other event in the region. This A Change of Pace original is our pride and joy and will take place on Saturday, November 20th. The event takes place in one of the most athletic communities in all of California (Davis) and provides an event for all ages. Choose from a variety of events: a 5K Run, 5K Walk, 5K Baby Jogger Run, 10K, and Kid's Fun Runs. Both online and mailed registration is now available. This year, we are limiting the field to 5,000 and encourage past, future, and undecided participants to register early. Once again, we are providing participants with the choice of a long sleeve or short sleeve t-shirt. In addition, look for all-new 5K and 10K courses, which will again be USATF certified.
