		A Change of Pace News Update Friday, August 5, 2005 In This Issue: - Davis Kids Triathlon now largest in USA - Fleet Feet Labor Day race a healthy way to spend the holiday! - Warning: Shoes Required....the Landshark Run Kohl's Davis Kids Triathlon, presented by UC Davis Children's Hospital Currently, over 750 kids have registered for the the 4th Annual Kohl's Davis Kids Triathlon, thus making it the largest kids triathlon in the United States. That’s right, the biggest in the whole entire country! With a little over a week away, we are in final preparations for this year's event. The event will take place at UC Davis next Sunday, August 14th and will play host to all kids ages 4-17 years of age. Haven't registered yet? There is still space available. Register by August 7th for $35 per child ($30 for each additional sibling). Fees rise by $5 on August 8th. Entry fee includes tons of kid-oriented goodies: a colorful race t-shirt, goodie bag, custom Davis Kids Tri water bottle, custom finisher's medal, and post-race food and entertainment. Please note: provided there is still space, the last day to register is during the packet pick up on Saturday, August 13th at UC Davis from 1-6pm. Race day registration is not available and will not be accepted. The Kohl's Davis Kids Triathlon is definitely the highlight event of the year. Don’t let your kids miss this once a year opportunity. Unlike most adult triathlons, the distances of this event make it very spectator friendly event for both parents & grandparents. Entry forms are also available at all area Kohl’s Department Stores, Fleet Feet Sports-Davis and Ken’s Bike and Ski of Davis. Want to help out? Volunteers are always welcomed and encouraged. We like to provide our participants with lots of direction, especially during the run and bike segments of the event. Volunteering at events is both fun and gratifying. Fleet Feet Labor Day Race Returning to Davis for the 11th year, the Fleet Feet Labor Day race, presented by the Golden Valley Harriers, is a healthy and fun way to spend your Labor Day holiday (Monday, September 5th) with the entire family. Events include a 5K Run/Walk, 10K Run and Kid's 1K. The event features flat, certified loop courses, lots of great awards/raffles, technical t-shirts and entertainment. Introducing the LANDSHARK RUN On October 8th, join us for the Landshark Run at Sacramento's Discovery Park. This thrilling, nail-biting, one-of-a-kind event will feature 5K and 10K courses and a kids 1/4 mile fun run. Runners, walkers and kids alike will enjoy these unique courses that feature themed course entertainment, as well as a festive post-race party. Due to several calendar changes for local running/walking events, the Landshark Run (formerly the Chevys Fresh Mex Run) is now one of the only 5K/10K races in the greater Sacramento area in October. Entry fees through September 10th are just $20 for the 5K/10K and $12 for the Kids Run. Be sure to get your registration in early and save. Entry fee includes a short-sleeve t-shirt and goodie bag; an upgrade to a long-sleeve t-shirt for those cool fall/winter days is available for $5 (thru Sept. 29th ).
