Davis Stampede Post-Race Notes: Thank you to all the participants who came out to the 23rd Annual Davis Stampede on February 5th. This year's event was one of the best yet. We could not have asked for better weather and hope you enjoyed our revised courses and staggered start times. March 13th: Run/Walk to build a Drug-Free Community

On Sunday, March 13th, A Change of Pace will be assisting with what we feel is a very important community event happening at the State Capitol Building in Downtown Sacramento. The event is called Run/Walk to Build a Drug-Free Community, (formerly the Walk for Recovery). The event is presented by Project Help, the area's first community-wide anti-drug coalition. We, at A Change of Pace are not only thrilled to assist with one of few events occurring in the downtown sector, but to work alongside an organization that puts so much energy into great cause. Drug and alcohol prevention and education is a critical topic that lacks the attention of other highly funded events, however, the results are felt by many. Drug abuse affects each and every one of us, whether it is within our family, workplace or neighborhood. The Run/Walk to Build a Drug-Free Community offers a 5K distance (3.1 miles) that will cater to all runners & walkers. We also will be offering a 1/2 mile kids fun run immediately following the 5K event.

In addition to helping raise necessary fundraise dollars for local drug prevention, treatment and recovery programs - an unprecedented 75% of the funds raised at this event will go directly back into community non-profit programs. Triathlon Update

This year's Donner Lake Triathlons will take place on Sat. - Sun., July 16-17th in Truckee, CA. Registration is already being accepted for both the sprint and international distances. In addition, there are discounts available for 2004 registered participants, all Truckee residents and USAT Tri Club members. Register soon - fees increase and some discounts expire on April 16th. We look forward to including you in the 2005 Donner Lake Triathlon - one of the nation's oldest and most prestigious events! Hey Kids....mark your calendars! The Davis Kids Triathlon, presented by UC Davis Children's Hospital, will return to Davis on Sunday, August 14th. This kids-only triathlon, with distances specific to each age group, is open to any child ages 4-17 years. No experience necessary! Last year, the Davis Kids Triathlon was the largest kids-only triathlon in the state of California! Expanded field limits for 2005 will likely push the event to the rank of largest kids triathlon in the USA. Don't miss out on the fun. Registration will open March 1st - and we strongly encourage you to register your child early. We sold out several weeks in advance last year and regretfully had to turn away many families because the event was full. Please plan to register early to guarantee your child a space.
