2005 Participant Confirmation Letter
Dear Participant,
Thank you for pre-registering for the 23rd Annual Davis Stampede. This event will take place this Sunday, February 6th, in Downtown Davis, CA. This email contains important race information. You can also find a copy of this e-mail on our website.
Picking Up Your Bib # & T-shirt - SAVE TIME AND MONEY
You have two options for picking up your official bib number and t-shirt. You can either come to packet pick up, on Saturday, Feb. 5th, at Fleet Feet in Davis from 11am to 4pm. If you can, we suggest attending Saturday's packet pick up, in order to avoid having to do pick-up on race morning. During Saturday's packet pick up, Fleet Feet will be having a blow-out sale, and you don't want to miss this one.
Your second option is to pick up your packet on race day. Race day pick up will be held at Central Park, the start/finish area, at 3rd and B Streets. It will open at 6:45 a.m. If you plan to pick up on race day, we suggest arriving at least one hour prior to the start of your race.
Start Times
The start times for the event are as follows:
8:20 a.m. - Half Marathon
8:30 a.m. - 5K
8:40 a.m. - 10K
Arriving At the Event
We suggest arriving at the event at least one hour early. This is to allow you sufficient time to park, pick up your bib # (if you haven't already), use the porta-potties, leave your sweats at the sweat check area (if desired) and warm up.
After the Race - Enter to win cool New Balance prizes
After the event, be sure to stop by the Fleet Feet / New Balance booth. Aside from an array of sale merchandise, here, you can pick up your very own key. Take your key back to Fleet Feet - Davis after the race on Sunday and see if it opens one of the six lockers in their store. Fleet Feet is just a couple blocks from the finish line (a perfect 5 minute cool-down walk). If the key opens the locker you choose, you could win a free pair of New Balance shoes & apparel (prizes will vary by locker). If you choose the wrong locker, but are among the first 200, you’ll win a free beanie (hat) just for trying! All keys will open one of the locks - so you have a one in six chance to score some great gear!
A Change of Pace Merchandise - a shirt for $1.00 - now that is tough to beat!
In the post-race area, be sure to stop by our merchandise booth. Here, you will find 2005 Davis Stampede merchandise, including Dri-Release running T-shirts for just $15. We will also have past year's merchandise - long sleeve t-shirts, short sleeve t-shirts and sweatshirts - starting at just $1.00. This is a great time to get a few extra items for your winter/spring training.
Awards
Those participants placing in the top three in their age division will win an award. Awards will include custom medals, New Balance and Fleet Feet apparel. To make things easier on your schedule, we are making all awards available for pick up at the race as soon as the results are posted. There will be an awards pick-up tent set up for your convenience. This way, you don't have to wait around an extra hour for the awards ceremony. You can pick up your prize...and head over to Fleet Feet Sports to see if you win a prize there, too!
Please note: If you do not pick up your award on race day, they will not be mailed. All awards/prizes will be available for pick up at Fleet Feet Davis starting on Tuesday, February 8th and continuing through March 31st.
Parking And Directions
Participants heading to Davis from the East (Sacramento) should take I-80 Westbound to Davis. Exit at Richards Blvd North (right) heading towards Downtown Davis. After you pass through the tunnel, you will be at the light at the intersection of 1st and E Streets. Here you can either go straight or turn left, depending on where you plan to park. The downtown Davis streets follow a number/letter pattern...your final destination is the start line, which is located at 3rd and B Streets.
Participants heading to Davis from the West (Vacaville, Bay Area) should take I-80 East towards Sacramento. Just before reaching Davis, take the Hwy. 113 offramp heading North towards Woodland. Continue about 1.5 miles until the Russell Blvd exit. Exit here and turn right. Continue approximately 2 miles. You'll pass by UC Davis and the football stadium. After the stadium, you'll cross A Street; and Russell Blvd. will turn into 5th Street. As you continue straight, you'll cross B Street (the right turn will be blocked off due to the race) and Central Park, the staging area, will be on your right. Turn right or left on any of the following streets (C, D, etc) to find street parking.
Parking for this race can be found on the various Downtown Davis streets and lots. The later you arrive, the farther away from the start line you should expect to park. On Sundays in Davis, the 2 hour parking is not enforced. There is a map of the downtown area posted on our website for your convenience. Please be sure to observe any barricaded or blocked off areas near to the event.
