When Lisa and I decided it was time to take our bootcamp program to the public, we weighed the pros and the cons. One of the questions was “what’s the worst that can happen?”....they could give up, go home, take a nap, worse yet they could never even START! Pat yourself on the back, what a wonderful achievement; you made it through the first MissF.I.T. class of session one!
We have some great questions coming to us via email. We encourage you to ask these questions during stretching or warm-ups. If you are wondering, most likely your neighbor is wondering the same thing. Please ask away! Following was a great question I received via email:
Will doing crunches and ab workouts get rid of belly fat....well, um, no.... (sorry)
Fact: You can do crunches till you pass out, and you still might not get a six-pack. Why? If you have a high percentage of body fat, your abs will be covered with -- you guessed it -- fat. And no, doing ab exercises won't necessarily make you lose that belly fat, either. The truth is, you can't spot-train (otherwise, wouldn't we all be running around with flat stomachs and slim thighs?). In order to get visibly toned abs, you have to first reduce your overall body fat, which means plenty of cardio, coupled with strength training for faster results. After that, the fruits of your labor should start becoming apparent. In other words, stick with us baby...the results will follow

We are looking forward to week 3! Needless to say, it will be a bit warmer than it has been in the past. We encourage you to hydrate the day before your work out. Of course, continue to hydrate during and after as well. The easiest way to know how much to drink is to follow this formula: drink half of your weight (in ounces) of water. So, if you weigh 140 pounds, you drink 70 ounces of water throughout the day.
See you this week!
